The book's quality is as new and came on time, but my professor doesn't seem to like the book very much.It has a slightly out-of-date vocabulary like missing entries for certain vocab words, although only a few words in every 10 chapters have this problem.It also has a strange means of introducing prepositions and adverbs, as well as 3rd declension I-Stem nouns. My professor clarified the latter, while I've written a list of adverbs and prepositions that are scattered around the chapters.Also, this book lacks an exhaustive list of syntaxes (the purpose of a word) for its cases. Again, my professor verbally provides this.This may be a critique against the author, but otherwise the book is great and is a good idea to order on Amazon.
Used for an introductory college course. Points are made with minimal language, imparts information efficiently. Vocab lists at the end of chapters, back of book, inside chapters. I've only been using this book a short time, but I've noticed a lack of frustration I usually develop with foreign language books. It covers a lot of information in relatively few pages, keeps the book lighter and the readings shorter, but, allowing for individual preference, could be a drawback.The Reviewer: English speaker, 2 years each German and Mandarin courses, so some foreign language experience, but not fluent in either; bibliophilic tendencies
Well, this book is more like a grammar compendium. I would have liked it more if it had more examples and applications.In my opinion this is not a good book to start learning Latin, but if you do have some knowledge this can help you put the grammar in order. For beginners I would recommend the "Lingua Latina" books.
