I read for more than just the content, but the content is good regardless. I can't say you'll be able to build your own Japanese style home right after reading this, but it's definitely a good insight into the styles and aesthetics of Japanese homes. The pictures are great, very inspiring, and I'm definitely going to use some of the ideas in my own future home.No problems with shipping, delivery time, or quality issues.

Currently, I'm gathering design ideas for my future appartment. I have always admired the Japanese style, both modern and traditional, and so decided to purchase this book to gather room ideas. It's a great resource, with many wonderful pictures and pleasant descriptions, ranging from tea-rooms to gardens. I look forward to using some of these ideas while furnishing and decorating.

It's unbelievable how much detailed information is in this book. The organization of the book is very convenient and there are page references throughout the book to the topics being discussed. This makes it extremely easy to either read the book from front to back or to pick out a narrow topic and read about it. My only complaints are that I wish it had more color photos and a better map, but the information is more important than photos anyway. This book will definitely make planning your trip to Crete a lot easier. And it's much, much better than the Lonely Planet Crete guide. Lonely Planet publishes some great books, but its Crete guide is not one of them.

We used this book to plan our honeymoon to Crete (without ever having been to Greece before). It had great suggestions for places to visit and what to see. We used it quite a bit and could rely on it mostly being accurate. There was one hike that we couldn't quite find just through the book's descriptions, but we did a different one instead. We would highly recommend it!

At first I thought this book has too much detail and I will never use it, but now I find that is the first book I go to. I lived in Iraklion 40 years ago and I am planning my first return next April. Crete has changed a great deal, and this book is helping me to find the 'old Crete' that I remember. Rough Guide may not be helpful if you have 2 or 3 days in Crete, but I am planning an exended stay and this book has the information I want to plan my return visit.

This book has been very helpful with regard to places to activities, hotels, and restaurants. It's my first Rough Guide.

As I expected, good! Somewhat hard language for us nonbritish.

My mother was born and raised in Crete and I have plenty of relatives there so I have visited the island often and have gotten to know it extremely well. There is almost NOTHING I don't know about this island. I have been using The Rough Guide in helping me to explore this island since at least 1996. The edition I used in 2005, which had been recently published, contains pretty much the same information and the same descriptions as this edition, published in 2013. As a matter of fact, I think that the older edition had slightly larger dimensions and contained more information than the current edition. It seems as if the only thing that has been updated is the prices. I guess some things just don't get better with age. If you are a first time visitor to the island then this guide is indispensable. If you are a 'regular' visitor, like me, and have a somewhat older edition of this guide then I'm not so sure if investing in this particular edition is worth it unless you feel you absolutely MUST have the most recent edition.
